Postgraduate studies.

BASE offers full-term research projects for PhD, Masters and Honours students through enrolment in collaborating Schools and Institutes at The University of Queensland.

BASE offer independent and cutting-edge research projects in synthetic RNA/DNA manufacture, innovative RNA technologies, mRNA therapies and synthetic biology. Our students have demonstrated success in achieving high-impact coutomes and publications, and benefit from the guidance of experienced supervisors.

Internships

BASE offers 12-week internships for motivated science and engineering undergraduate and masters students . Students will receive on-site training in applied aspects of mRNA design, manufacture and analysis and experience the unique environment at one of Australia’s leading mRNA facilities

At completion, internships provide students with practical laboratory skills in mRNA manufacture, experience in research services, and career mentoring. Interns can also receive Academic credit towards undergraduate or masters degrees in approved circumstances.

Exchange and placement programs.

BASE students benefit from exchange programs with partner national and international research institutes, where they will receive new perspectives and expand their professional networks.

BASE students can also undertake placements with industry partners to receive real-life, commercial experience, learn the business of research translation, and develop skills necessary for a career in the expanding mRNA industry.

Entrepreneurship programs.

Are you interested in starting your own company or being a future industry leader? BASE PhD students can participate in the AIBN Entrepreneurship Scholars Program, where they are equipped with leadership, entrepreneurial and industry training.

Selected scholars undertake a range of professional development activities alongside their PhD, including the Liveris Academy Program, specialised courses, and placements within partner companies to learn the business of research translation.
